Lara's Caffeteria - Islington

I cannot say that I had a good experience at this restaurant. The service was appalling and I left before even experiencing the atmosphere. My friends had already ordered lunch, so I decided to wait with them and have a coffee. However, when we entered the café, there was no one to greet us. We assumed it was self-service, so we found a table and waited to order. When we finally asked a waitress for coffee, she rudely told us to wait because there were two tables ahead of us. After waiting for 15 minutes without any service, we decided to leave without getting our coffee. The rudeness of the waitress and the long wait time for a simple coffee was unacceptable.

Lara's food is delicious and homemade. We have taken out her lasagna, vegetable parmesan and yummy cannoli and pasteis de natas (Portuguese tarts). All excellent. Her place is a class act. I've even taken her cannoli on a flight back to Canada. They survived very well!

Found this place and what a treat ! We had breakfast of 2 full breakfast , eggs in toast with coffees. All beautifully cooked and well presented. Good coffee too ! Would recommend

I've been going here for years and just love the place. The food is awesome made with fresh Italian ingredients and always delicious. They also do great coffees and juices too. Lara, the owner, is really passionate about what she does and an absolute sweetheart. The waiters and waitresses are always sweet too, although sometimes the service can be a little slow which just adds to the authentic charm of the place. The prices are really reasonable too. As well as this, it's a really pretty, relaxed space and they have good wifi I sometimes come here and spend a morning drinking coffee, eating breakfast and doing work. If you're vegetarian like me than you'll love their veggie breakfast seriously one of the best I've had in London, the baked beans are even homemade! If you live in the area and hadn't visited then you really need to.

Stranded in London yesterday having flown into Heathrow Thursday night, we stumbled across Lara’s by accident. The staff were so friendly and the food was excellent. Value for money was excellent too.
