Mccord Candies - Lafayette

I had brought my family so my kids could experience a classic soda fountain, but we couldn't get any service. I had asked if I could order at the counter, but they said to go sit down. Almost 30 minutes later, no one had even come to see us. My kids were hungry and kept asking when we would eat. So, we drove to another restaurant, ordered, and had our food in less time than we had waited.Since I could not reply to the response noted for this review, while they indicated that everyone was waited on quickly, that was not the case for my family. One family definitely left unhappy. Hopefully they can remedy the situation.

I have loved for this season to come for years- the Candy Cane Milkshake is a favorite and creates multiple trips before it's gone again. I went by on Saturday to get 2 large for my husband and I as a surprise...but imagine my surprise to learn it's now only vanilla ice cream with creme de menthe syrup and some candy cane sprinkled on top!! This is not like it used to be, the flavor, texture and Peppermint is no longer there, Guess this was my last trip there for a family favorite holiday tradition. I didn't even eat mine, I threw it out.

What a disappointment. I used to go to this store as a teenager and it has not aged well. The candy selection is similar to what you'd see at any mall. The home-made chocolates were good, but that is less than 1/2 of their inventory. The fruit candies, licorice and saran-wrapped items were bought in bulk. The home-made rice crispy treat was stale and lacked flavor. The brownie was not as good as a box mix from the grocery. Over-priced and not worth the trip. Only giving a 2 because the carmarsh was great. So sad...

I was anticipating finding only sweets, but ended up enjoying a delicious lunch instead! The menu was pleasantly surprising with the incredible burger. This may not be a gourmet burger joint, but it was reasonably priced and still quite tasty.
