And after a day of travelling or tasting sometimes good old fish and chips is just perfect if not feeling like a 5-star restaurant meal. This place is SO clean which is a credit to the owner operator who is very pleasant. Thank you for a great meal!
A little hidden away off the main street but a great placeA friendly hello on entry and all the good old fashioned treats you remember from long ago, booths along 1 wall a big sign over the cooker with all the choices for all to seeFun stop off
The fish was delicious. The batter is very nice. Thin like a tempura batter. We thoroughly enjoyed all we chose! Most fish and chip places now a days are very greasy and all batter! Not here, worth the visit and price!
We called in here on a cold and wet Sunday night during a recent long-weekend stay in Penola. Our intention was to grab a quick and cheap meal to take back to our accommodation to enjoy whilst we put our feet up and enjoyed some television viewing. The lady in charge behind the counter was welcoming and friendly and provided us with a quick run-down on the highlights of their takeaway menu.We made our selections and after only a short wait our food was cooked and we were on our way. On arrival back at our motel room, we immediately tucked into our food. The fish, the burger and the chips were all very tasty and filling. We had made a good choice in deciding to patronise Penola's Aussie Takeaway shop.
On my last night in Penola South Australia lost power - the whole state. I was stuck for dining options but was put onto the Aussie Take Away. When I arrived they were churning out the hamburgers and fish and chips via an LED strip hooked to a car battery!! The quality of the food excellent and just what you would hope for from a good fish and chip shop, but 5 stars has to go to the 'roll up your sleeves and get on with it' attitude. Well done.
