Three of us longed for a week on the way to the maritimes. We had lots of fresh fish etc, but never a sit-down formal dinner unlike takeout. We had no idea how generous the portions would be and... we ordered tempura and sushi to our hearts content. And noodles, beautiful fat udon in a delicious broth. Only a perfectly satisfying meal served with good humor and kindness. We highly recommend this casual place.
A great place to have a quiet lunch and enjoy the fantastic food. The Bibimbap is the best in Saint John!
Unagi had a bitter taste. Salmon had a tiny area that saw boiled by chance, average freshness and texture. Rolls were not so special. Even false soup didn't taste good and it's hard to do the wrong. I wouldn't come back.
So my friend and I were craving sushi and decided to stop by the closest sushi place. The server got us to the table quickly but took forever to take our order even though the restaurant was not busy. Once ordering a few rolls, sashimi...and a bowl of udon, we sat and waited. They did not serve us one dish at a time but instead decided to put our whole order on one plate which I felt was strange. None of the rolls looked appetizing. Three of the four we ordered had the same yellow sauce drowning the rolls. The deep fried rolls had a battering that was chewy and the flavor of cardboard. I also ordered the lobster roll. It was as if there was no lobster on the roll. I could not see or taste where the lobster was because the flavor of the yellow sauce was overpowering. All the rolls with the sauce had almost the same flavor. One roll had a piece of fried chicken on top that just seemed weird to me. The tempura was just as bad. They were greasy and not even hot. This came with the udon and although the udon was not bad it was not exciting. It was just soup and noodle. I had also order the chef 's choice of sashimi. This was a HUGE mistake. Some of the selection was O.K. but I noticed something strange on the plate. There was 3 pieces of HAM. The chef had chosen to give us ham as one of the 7 choices. I do not know any Japanese restaurant that serves ham as Sashimi. I feel like this is scamming their customers in a bad way.Ordering the chef 's choice at many Japanese restaurants is a great way to surprise yourself but here it was disappointing. Although I was not happy the other customers in the restaurant seemed quite happy with what they were served. The chef even talked to some of the regular customers after there were no more orders. I do not at all recommend this restaurant especially in an area that has many great restaurants that are just a few blocks away.
