We went here thinking it was the pretty highly rated Tortilleria Rancha Grande, which shares the same address and phone number. Figured we?d try it anyway when we got there despite the weird name change. I sincerely hope these are not supposed to be the same restaurant because if they are, people in the area have never had good or even ok Mexican food, ever. Super casual, which is fine/great, but no one came to our table for a while. One basket of chips for 6 of us withno refills and and it took well over 45 minutes for our food to come out. Guac app was eh, with guac having nothing but avocado-barely any onion, no salt, pepper, lemon/lime. When the food did come out, 3 of the 6 orders were totallywrong?including just asking for a simple taco for a kid?and my fajita was...not a fajita at all. It was some chicken mixed with only red peppers on a plate with bagged shredded cheese on top with some rice and kidney beans. Tortillas cameout later and were hard as a rock. No pico, no sour cream, no guacamole, no green peppers, no sizzle. The burrito came full of lettuce despite a request for none (no sour cream even though that was requested) and a salad full of rice andlittle else. Molcajete looked cool and sauce had good flavor but meat was all very over-cooked. Asked for the right taco for the kid and was brought out a plate with the same chicken/cheese mound as my fajita..not in a taco. Don?t knowwhat happened to the Tortilleria with the good reviews but this is not it.
Tried Sareli's for some take-out comfort food. I ordered nachos with chicken and a chicken burrito. Both tasted good and were made using fresh ingredients. I often judge a Mexican restaurant by its nachos. I have found that all Mexican restaurants' nachos are unique. Sareli's nachos were enjoyable. There was a nice big portion (not huge) and good ratios of ingredients. The only thing that disturbed me is that they came in a styrofoam take-out container that was clearlyused to heat up the nachos at some point in there preparation because the food was clearly melted into the styrofoam. While I am aware that SOME special styrofoam is microwave safe, most is not. This was caused some concern. The burrito wastasty and nicely sized. Overall, it was a pretty good Mexican food take-out experience.
Food and service was excellent. Love the steak will definitely be back to try other dishes..
El Pastor tacos were excellent. Love the sauces and the radishes on the side.
