China Diner - Ukiah

I first visited this restaurant about five months ago, and I was absolutely in love with the hot and sour soup—it was truly the best! However, on my recent visit, the soup has gone from outstanding to disappointingly bad. The last bowl we had was excessively salty and much darker in color than before. So today, I opted for the egg drop soup, hoping for a better experience since my last encounter with the hot and sour soup was not great. Unfortunately, the egg drop soup was not what I expected at all; it resembled more of a tofu soup in a watery broth. I didn’t mind the 25-minute wait for the egg drop soup, thinking it would be worth it, but I was sorely mistaken. I’m giving the restaurant 3 stars based on how fantastic the hot and sour soup used to be, and I hope they can bring it back soon!

The most grossest orange chicken I've ever ate! Doesn't even taste like orange chicken! The diner smells like wet dog and gross dish washer soap. The chow main and fried rice are great! But some of the food isn't what youd expect!

Used to be a regular here. Lately it's gone down hill. (Last couple months) their prices have gone way up while the food quality has gone WAYY down. I dont mind paying more, but now the food is not good. They are watering down the sauces and way less veggies and way smaller portions. Too bad! I used to love it no matter the price. Now the last 3x I went, I feel ripped off and am left hungry still. Booo!!

We enjoy this restaurant because the food is consistently good, and we feel well taken care of. Our favorites are the General Chicken and Curry Chicken, and sometimes we also indulge in the Mongolian Beef. We typically consider this place for lunch, as they have a great selection of lunch dishes that are quite filling. The main courses are always excellent. The noodle side dish is decent, and the fried rice is satisfactory. In my previous job, we would frequently order lunch from here when we had guests, including many who were from China. The food was always impressive, especially when we ordered large trays for big groups. I’m sure I ordered from here over 50 times while I was there, and those big bowls of food for larger gatherings never disappointed.

I was taken there by a friend last year and was really impressed. The food was great and had just the right portions to satisfy me and probably most others as well. I had been multiple times and had never been let down until my visit in May 2018. The quality seemed to have dropped a bit, which really stood out to me. Perhaps they were having an off day. I’ll have a better idea when I visit again. For now, I’ll give it three stars and hope to bump it up to four after my next experience.
