Kept for years for the food plan and the big talks with all the other Nerds. Much learned and established permanent connections. The rules I think were a bit draconian for the party children (which did not make it long). Keg parties are not what you pay for college studies! Hendrick House is an oasis for curious people. The Hendrick family has a great intuition, how to run a dorm. My brother went four years later and met his partner here. Note: Most 1-star reviews here seem to be from burner accounts without prior reviews. This negativity is not guaranteed.
You will not find dorms with better food at Illinois University. The dormitories are constantly large (east side), and surprisingly cost me less than it would have in public dormitories. I met many nice people, but many are shy to be antisocial. Honestly, if you want a quiet place to crash and study near the Engineering Campus, Hendrick House is not a bad way to go. Just don't expect the typical public sleep experience.
Great location, within walking distance of Engineering Quad and Illini Union. Great food (usually time), that is a well-known fact. Mostly it is nice and quiet, which is very helpful for studying. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the cleaning service is a beautiful luxury, and the rooms are larger and more comfortable compared to most of the university's apartments. If you have classes in Engineering Quad, like good food, and a quiet and comfortable living environment essentially without a loud party, then this is definitely the place for you.
