Waun-a-bowl - Waunakee

I went to the restaurant for lunch yesterday (Saturday) and the Cajun chicken sandwich was fantastic! The bartender, Hope, was extremely friendly and provided excellent service to everyone. The prices were reasonable and they had a great selection of beer. I will definitely be returning!

While I can't vouch for the other menu items, I can tell you that my grandkids, who are mac n' cheese connoisseurs, absolutely loved the mac n' cheese here. It seems like if they eat it without complaint, it must be really good. It had been a while since I last went bowling, but I appreciated that you can rent a lane by the hour rather than by the game, making it affordable. Even though I wasn't exactly striking every time, I had a great time. I've heard that Waun-A-Bowl is a popular spot for families to visit before and after Waunakee HS football games, and to me, that speaks volumes about the quality of the place. As someone who writes reviews for Amazon Vine, I reserve five stars for experiences that really WOW me, and Waun-A-Bowl definitely deserves five stars in my book.

I have only been living in the area for a little over 5 years, and one of the things I loved was going to Waun-a-bowl for a burger. Everything was great for years, but tonight when we went, I was surprised to see a completely new menu. The prices were higher and there were fewer choices. They no longer had the 1/2 lb burger, and many items were now missing or changed. The burger tasted different and my daughter was disappointed with the new Mac n' Cheese bites, which were completely different from before. They say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Unfortunately, it seems the new ownership thought things were broken and decided to make changes. I am highly disappointed and will now need to find a new burger place locally, as things have changed here and not for the better.

Tonight was not so good. 45 minutes for food. Wait staff did ask if we wanted another drink or how our food was. My wife waited 15 at bar to get our check to pay. It wasn't that busy.

New prices are insanely high under the new ownership! Most items are $2.50 or more per item for similar items. Before you could get a Cheeseburger and fries for $7.25, now it is $10.00. Mushroom Swiss Burger was $5.25, now it is $9.00. Hopefully the prices get more reasonable and the service improves with time.
